The John M. Turturro Gallery

Opening Saturday May 1St 6pm to 9pm
MAYDAY —
May Day is not a prominent holiday in America, but it does have a long and notable history as one of the
world’s principle festivals, celebrated differently throughout the various cultures. The origin of May Day
dates back to before the birth of Christ and, like many ancient festivals, has a Pagan connection.
With that thought in mind, The John M. Turturro Gallery takes great pleasure in presenting May Day, an
interactive exhibit featuring twelve artists whose work embraces the concept of celebration, creativity
and individuality. Twelve artists whose work represents their interpretation of their own unique cultural
experiences, covering a myriad of life discoveries. Twelve artists who carve out a distinct niche that
expands the viewer’s worldview — and keeps them asking questions.
The questions are endless. At the heart of it all, a single word comes to mind: why? And at the end of the
day, what is left on the table is “what now?”
